CLOSER aims to promote joint actions in the Mediterranean for the promotion of participatory governance at local and regional level, by:

A

the creation of territorial “proximity networks” in Italy, Spain, Greece, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon engaging local social actors – alongside with the public authorities – as relevant stakeholders that often fill the gap in the existing public service’ provision.

B

their capacity building in becoming facilitators of participatory processes of local governance for the co-design and delivery of social services aimed at  improving the wellbeing of the population.

The local networks will jointly develop a strategic model of participatory governance to be piloted in six regions. Its aim is to co-design bottom-up social services that better respond to real local needs. The active involvement of all stakeholders enhances transparency, efficiency and social cohesion
